AWS Account Mapping is for the initial onboarding of an AWS Account and the Remapping to align to New Budgets or to update the Mapping Allocation.

In Account Mapping the key concept is allocation. FinOps Center translates all AWS Account Level spending to a Product Level allocation that then get conveyed throughout the organization by the Users Financial Scope.

Allocations initial Start Date are the date that the account is created or added to the Master Payer Cloud Estate. By default the End date is the end of the current Fiscal Year.  On a Percentage Basis, an AWS Account is mapped to a the Product Level Budget. To create the mapping, the total Allocation needs to equal 100%.

Accounts can be remapped to support the use cases around new budgets and/or to support the Card Dispute Process. Accounts can only be remapped to the beginning of a Spend Period.

Accounts Need to be given the type of account they are to support Filtering in Reporting.
