QuickSight Configuration Prior to Installing FinOps Center

  • Pricing Plan - Enable Session based Pricing
  • Domains and Enablement - URL of FinOps Center
  • Create as Analysis Share Cloud Financial Management Dashboards and click Toggle to enable "Save As" (Note: When you return to Dashboard you need to refresh the page to get "Save As" Icon to create Analysis
  • (Recommended) - Update Theme - All/Any Analysis/Dashboard to be deployed in FinOps Center
    • Primary Background -#F9FAFC
    • Primary Foreground -#030303
    • Secondary Background -#030303
    • Secondary Foreground -#A1CD64
    • Accent -#A1CD64
    • Accent Foreground -#A1CD64
    • Font OpenSans 
  • Share Dashboard
    • dashboards/41f301c4-f81f-4416-8fb4-e74e33d17d6a -> this is the Dashboard Name that is needed for embedding as well as the Name wished for Dropdown to display

Post Deployment Instructions

Once FinOps Center is deployed the Dashboards will have Row Level Security Enabled via Tag-Based Rules. For users within Finops Center they will be able to view the Dashboards Account Level Data reflecting the Accounts that have been mapped to their Financial Scope. 

For Authors within the QuickSight Console, their users need to be enabled via User-Based Rules. 

  • Collect all Authors UserNames that will author or edit within the Console
  • Create an Excel file with 2 Columns- UserName and Account_ID as Headers. All Authors Users names in Rows below UserName
  • Save File and Go to Datasets and New Dataset and upload Excel
  • Go Back to DataSets and Select Summary View and User-Based Rules. Select the File of your Users and Click Enable
